The Thermophore Automatic Moist Heat Pack is an unusual pain relieving appliance. An ordinary heating pad is not hot enough to relieve the aches and pains of daily activities. Each Thermophore has a specifically woven flannel cover which holds atmospheric moisture in the air spaces between the textile strands. The Thermophore becomes hot very quickly. Through a hydroscopic action, the moisture moves away from the source of heat to the cooler body tissue, producing a layer of moisture between the Thermophore and the body. As body tissues are heated, blood vessels dilate, increasing the circulation in the area treated. The increased blood flow relieves congestion, brings additional oxygen and carries away toxins and waste, temporarily easing pain. The Thermophore makes a hot Fomentation compress without adding water, providing temporary relief from the pain of arthritis, muscle strain and respiratory congestion.
    An additional feature adds convenience and safety. You can hold down the heat control switch until you achieve the level of heat you want. Then the temperature will be maintained for awhile and gradually decrease in temperature. You are thereby protected from overheating.

    The standard size Thermophore Heat Pack measures 14" x 27" and can cover the entire spine or other large areas of the body.
    The medium size Thermophore measures 14" x 14" to treat smaller areas of localized pain, i.e. a knee, shoulder or ankle.
    The petite size Thermophore measures 4" x 17" and has velcro closures. Ideal for treating TMJ, throat, neck, sinus or other small regions.
    The muff is specially designed with an on-off switch for treating hand pain.
